I am tracking '07/'08 RS's for sale on Ebay, Autotrader and Cars.com daily since I am in the market for a such a vehicle. And I just saw this new listing in Ebay for WP0AC29987S792762 that apparently was posted today. As you can see & read via the links below, there is something here that does not appear exactly 'Kosher'. I will let each of you reach your own conclusions as to what is going on here. But I thought it would be prudent to bring it to the attention of the Forum just in case one of you is considering this vehicle for purchase. z356

Report from Max's gt3rs Registry. I remember seeing this car for months advertised by New Country Porsche in Greenwich, Connecticut. Their listing just disappeared a few weeks ago and I assumed it had been sold. Are these two cars the same vehicle (VIN # 2762)???

The Ebay seller has posted the following: "I have not personally inspected or photographed this vehicle. I am relying on the pictures and descriptions provided by the seller". That is something I can believe without any doubt!

note quiet sure what your point is? Looks like the same car, hell the ebay sellers name is the same as in the registry. Not sure what the point is in regards to the mileage, I am not gettin' my panties in a knot because of 300 miles difference. You will have to confirm the odometer reading again anyway just before the sale in case it was driven again. Odometer reading at title transfer has to be exact, so what is not kosher?

 

Schwabe: For starters, check interior shots on the Ebay listing and compare to photos on the Registry. But all of this seems normal to you, it is fine by me. But perhaps others might find it interesting. Saludos, z356

 

Seller just added this:

On Oct-27-09 at 18:25:30 PDT, seller added the following information:
I apologize - the VIN # was entered wrong. It should read: WP0CA29957S792671.

Either something is fishy, or the registry has the recorded the VIN incorrectly. Or another highly unlikely possibility is that 2762 and 2671 are sister cars and have been prepped/setup nearly identically, besides the cartronic shifter and some other superficial stuff.

 

Zamirz: Over at Rennlist, member 'tcsracing 1' contacted the Ebay seller and here is what he posted: "i did some ebay internet policeing and this is what the ebayer got back to me with: WP0CA29957S792671; said he had the VIN from the previous RS listed by mistake". So that might all there is to this. The differences between the two cars are rather significant, as you can see from comparing both at the gt3rs Registry:

But it is rather careless to list an RS in auction under the wrong VIN number, me thinks. Glad this has been straighten out and corrected by the seller. z356

Was watching TV when I posted that, did not compare all the pictures. Thought you were up in arms because of the different mileage reported.
