Red face Titanium Tips from Tubi: Just how decadent do you want to get :-) ?

Over the past couple of years, some of you (and it's a small crazy group granted) have asked me for some sort of Titanium tip replacement for our beloved GT3/RS. Well I had sort of put that in the, "One day in the very distant future basket" I'm afraid. We just don't have the level of Ti capability/reliability required in these parts (Japan is where the best level is FYI). Fast fwd a bit and having worked with Tubi/Champion during this year's Concorso the owner of Tubi had mentioned that they had actually made a set of "ferrrry expensive" (in my Italiano accent) tips. Sure enough they showed up today so I took a few pictures and installed them on the 2010 GT3.

Tubi vs Factory
The stock ones are 81mm vs the Tubi which are 90mm.

I repeat these are NOT cheap and it's a good thing that Tubi is the one paying for the tooling required to make the brackets, the tubes themselves and the "rolled" edges.

We weighed them and compared them to the stock units. The Ti tips are .8 pounds! You really need to be careful not to sneeze since they'll likely blow over

By comparison the factory ones are 2.92pounds.

Stock ones installed:

Tubi Ti Tips installed:

These will fit any 997GT3 (with our without our bypass incidentally). If you dare () the price is listed on our product page. Either way their pretty spiffy indeed!

Sharky, it's a very nice product, but Porsche Tequipment has just announced their new product line for GT3 and RS... including titanium exhaust tips! Tubi is as good as they come, but factory is hard to beat in terms of quality and fitment.

What you SHOULD be selling everyone on is the new Akrapovic complete Ti exhaust system, including Ti headers. Why do just the tips, when you can do the whole exhaust? That's more your style!

... so now you need wheel locks for the exhaust tips? Just three bolts and the tip comes off ...
