Purchasing a used 07 GT3... need some advice
Hey Guys, I've been looking at a couple of used 07 gt3's recently. And have my eye on a Meteor Gray 07 with 11k miles on it. The only thing is the owner has changed the front rotors from the stock cross-drilled rotors, to slotted rotors. So naturally, I asked him if the car has been tracked... which he was up front about, and said he had tracked it, but very sparingly.
I asked him to please specify, if he could, how many of the 11k miles were track miles. But I have to wonder how hard he drove the car on the track, for the cross-drilled rotors to being cracking. What do you guys think? I will be getting the car inspected at the local Porsche dealership, and they will be able to tell me if the engine has been over-rev'd, clutch wear and tear, etc...
Are the stock cross-drilled rotors really that susceptible to cracking?
Here's a link to the vehicle, if anybody wants to check it out.

Thanks in advance!

The M64 engine is a race car engine. As long as he takes good care of the car and change the oil regularly, the M64 will run forever.
Just have the dealer run a DME report and make sure that there are no type 3 overrev's.
Some people have problems with type 2's, but I am fine with them
Type 3 I am totally not fine with.

JC, have you talked to the owner yet?
If all checks out at the dealer, I am either flying down there to pick the car up, visit my bro in Dallas, and drive it back here... or get shipped. I really would like to drive it back... seems like it would be a blast.

^Haven't talked to the owner, I just saw it on posted a few days ago. Its the best color for the car IMO and the price is unbelievable. To add to what stuka stated, the 3.6 GT3 engine is predecessor of the GT1's and they're based on the same block so they are absolutely bullet proof with proper maintenance. If I wasn't considering a career change I would have called the guy and driven down there immediately. I'm really surprised the owner isn't asking more based on the rarity of the color alone. I have been looking at a Meteor Gray owned by a member on 6speed with less mileage, but the asking price is much closer to $100k.
If you do pick it up and head to Dallas, lets trade PMs and see if it may be possible to meet up. You'd take I35 to get to Dallas, so we could possibly arrange a meet with all the Austin TSers.
I tell you what if I find a good 7.1 GT3 that has dipped below $80k, I don't care if i have to live like a hobo for the few months b/c I'm buying it.

I'm with you on the Meteor Gray. I saw Chris from Cali's C4S in that color in Monterey and I have to say it is absolutely stunning. FWIW, there is also a Cobalt Blue 2007 GT3 for sale in NorCal with less than 5k miles, but they are asking $115k.....good luck getting that price

dude, as many guys here know I am obsessed with everything 7.1 GT3, and from my studying I can deduce that all the car needs is a sharkwerks bypass and it will be utterly amazing. Good luck, JC
