CGT 4 year service - a few pics

answers to some of your questions
Some of you have asked: why, what, and how much.
Answers:
1) This is Porsche recommended time-based service at 4 years. Want to keep it pristine? Then you gotto to pay to play. I want mine kept cherry. Besides, if I ever decide to sell it, or pass it along to my sons, any prudent new owner will ask about the car's condition and service history and there will be no doubt that this car was loved.
2) Car has 4,500 miles on it now.
3) No, I did not absolutely need to do this...but since when does the word "need" apply to owning a CGT? I could have deferred the maintenance but since it was going to get done eventually, I figured to do it now.
4) I like the peace of mind of not having to think about this for another 4 years and knowing that I can drive it hard without thinking about its condition.
5) Lots of stuff gets checked and adjusted. On the engine side, the drive belts are replaced and the valves re-shimmed - that's why the engine comes out. Belts are on the front of the engine right up against the firewall - no room to do this without pulling the engine. The ceramic clutch is still at 90%. All the fluids changed, etc., etc.
6) On the front end, Porsche calls for the front shock helper springs to be replaced - a tendency to sag. So the whole front end gets blown apart to replace 2 shock springs - again, this could be deferred or ignored, but "have to" is not a phrase that applies to owning a CGT, right?
7) I'm keeping the car 100% box stock - no mods, no way. Doesn't need anything more that I could put value on anyway...
8) Costs:
- replace 4 TPMS sensors on the wheels - a grand
- replace front helper spirngs - a grand
- 4 year service - 7 grand
- with tax, the better part of 10k so that means that in addtion to a grand a year for annual service, another 2,500 a year amortized to fund the 4 year service.
9) I figure if you want to own a car like this and really drive it (I wish I had more time but I like driving the other cars too), might as well take care of it. Else I would just park it in the garage, but how boring...
10) I have no doubts about the car being put back together 100% right and seeing the carbon painted front end on the ground doesn't bother me - these things are not art work, at the end of the day, it's still just a car. But I obviously don't take it for granted.

Thanks for posting that. I'm glad you're taking great care of that car - it deserves it. Also, those prices are not ridiculous considering how much work was done, replacement parts, the hours of labor, etc. Given that a CGT is an astronomically-priced car to purchase, I'd be tempted to call those prices for service "inexpensive".
Keep enjoying it in good health! Thanks for sharing the pics/info.
