I understand your point but I cringe at the thought of buying a used Exotic or high end sports car. How can you be 100% sure that the car hasn't been throughly abused, then cleaned up and put up for sale. I could care less if I was buying a truck or a sedan but I perfer to buy my Sports cars brand new. Obviously you have 2 similar cars and want to get rid of one. But I could care less what the resale is on GT3/GT3RS's since I don't plan to sell mine.

is there anyway you could get near a (clean) CS for $150K?

you know, i tend to agree with you. I normally, usually, would spend up to get a new or uber low mileage car. i hate the thought of some hack chopping up a car with an absolute target on flipping it in short order. Heck, that situation was also a function of an ever-upward-moving market. guys could buy at msrp or near, sit, wait, flip, make. in a downward market, its the otherway. you are more likely to buy as a holder, enthusiast with a longer perspective, unless of course you think you're a timing expert and picking a bottom is your talent!!<G>
but, i can tell you this..i've owned a few nice cars over the past couple of years. im not making fun of myself exactly but im a baby on my cars. a total wuss compared ot many. oh, i warm them up excessively. i wash them a lot. I tune them up too much. I wub them!<G> and i can tell you that just about anyone who bought any of the cars i sold got some really nice machines, and the minimal miles additional that might show on the odometer might play into valuation, but not to quality or condition.
the two RS's i own right now, i'd figure i'm upside down a whole stinking chunk of cash. happy? no. upset? no. i knew that going in, somehow told myself it was acceptable, which for me, it was. its not acceptable for anyone to throw away cash, but its only after the fact that we know this recent economic downturn yanked the bottom out on these cars. heck, im a buyer of cars in this market place.
but i can definately tell you that there are some great cars out there owned by great guys at great prices. go find cars from RichK, Jamie, a bunch of others...those cars i'd buy from them in a millisecond. cars with lower miles from other guys ive spoken to, i'd run for the hills. i can only suggest someone do the research and talk to the person.
for those looking at the RS these days, man, its an awsome machine. took mine out today and yesterday. took out the f40 as well. as fun as that f40 is, the RS is as much fun, more approachable, and i think could run circles around it. better than it? wrong word. at 1/3 the pricing, the RS is special for sure.
The ferrari CS is a great car. i had one, paid a lot for it. sold it scratch. they are down a lot since. but i agree, you really cant get a great for less than $150, 160. if you're a cash holder looking for a machine, its terrific that the RS is cheap and maybe a better option for your cash. on th eother hand, those who have CS's arent happy abou tthe downturn, but seeing your CS go from 190 to 165ish is far better than watching your RS go from 185, 190 to 125 ove rthe same window of time.
Price aside, i'd take an RS over a CS all day.

How does your comment change the fact that it's a lot of miles?
