Porsche working on 580-hp GT2 RS for the track? - eGMCarTech

Porsche recently took the wraps off its 2009 Porsche 911 GT3 and the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR. According to PistonHeads, Porsche could now be working on a hardcore GT2 RS designed specifically for the track. Sources close to Porsche say that the Porsche GT2 RS will be faster, lighter and more powerful.

The Porsche GT2, which produces 530-hp, is track and road friendly. The RS version will cater to those that want more power for the track. It will feature substantial weight-saving features and power increase.

How much of a power increase you ask? Sources say that output could be increased by a total of 50-hp to a total of 580-hp. It is said that only 10 examples of the Porsche GT2 RS will be build for next spring.

^^^ Hard to believe Porsche would only build 10 examples. I'd set that number somewhere between 350-500 examples and I'm sure they'd have no problem selling each and every one!

I thought they would have no problem selling the regular GT2 but they are. If they don't over price them they should sell. We'll see I guess.

Considered sold to dealers like the Lamborghini Reventon. That is over priced and they were all "sold" and look, now there is 35% of them for sale. I have a feeling this will happen to the GT2rs.

No matter what the performance, now is clearly not the time to release a high end car like this and expect robust sales/demand...

^^ either way I want to see Porsche produce it. Would like to see how it would compare to the ZR1 and 599 Ferrari
