GT3 vs. ZR1 purchase decision - need feedback

This week I have to choose between an 2007 GT3 and a Corvette ZR1.

The 07 GT3 is a great buy. The ZR1 is over MSRP. There is about a $20K spread between the two cars. I have a 997 Turbo now that stays. I gave up a 08 Corvette Z06 for the Turbo. In almost all respects I like the turbo way better then the Z06.

The GT3 is Meteor gray and lightly optioned. Nav, Xeonon's and power seats. Not much else. The ZR1 is Cyber Grey and Highly Optioned. Full leather, blue tooth/Ipod, NAV and that 638hp with 600 ib-ft of torgue. It ran the ring in 7:22. The new King of the Ring of the Road. Viagra on 4 wheels. Except you don't have to go to the Doctor if it lasts more than 4 hours.

Both cars are nice, but I do like the GT3 styling better. That front end design visits me in my dreams.

Both would see track time, although the ZR1 would spend some time on the show circuit before hitting the track for the first time.

I'd love to have a second Porsche for hard track days, but I'm having a tough time walking away from the ZR1. It seems truly special, with a limited 2 year production run.

Any strong opinions out there.

My vote was for the GT3, but after reading you already have a 997TT. So go with the ZR-1. Or you could trade in you 997TT and get a GT2. haha just an idea. Either way I live in Mass so whatever you get we should meet up so I can see your new ride. Best of luck!

The GT3 is an amazing car but you already have a TT definately go for the ZR-1 plus the GT3 is gonna get a 3.8 DFI in the very near future... Hope that helps whatever you end up getting enjoy it in the best of health

GT3... Porsche was right when they said there is no substitute. Think of why you enjoy the Turbo over the Z06 and apply that to this decision. Porsches are not always the fastest for the money, but all the intangibles give them advantages.

With the 20K spread that would move you into the GT3 RS range and that is the car I would buy. I can not think of another Porsche or almost any car under 500,000 I would rather own.

If you gave up your Z06 for a TT and like the TT better you'll probably like the GT3 better than the ZR1. Also the fact that you have to pay over MSRP for the ZR1 makes the GT3 sound like a better buy.
