G-Wagen broken by Aussie Outback

Loved my 2008 Land Cruiser. Put 83,000 miles on it. Changed the oil every 5,000 miles. Never met the service guys.
Just bought a 2011. 23,000 miles so far. Same thing.
Almost 400 hp, very comfortable, great interior and seating, and incredibly capable off-road. Eats up the highway miles with ease, and incredible in the mud and through the rocks. Unlike many SUVs, mine goes off-road regularly, and seriously off-road occasionally. For my money, there's not a better, or stronger, vehicle in the world.

I bet it was Porsche's stock GT3RS entry in to the 24 hour race at the nurburgring that inspired merc to do the same. oh wells.

There will not be a G65.
Mercedes will probably update the G with the new 5.5L V8 soon.
But on the other hand, MB Australia did say that they are thinking about bringing the revised components as standard on the Australian market because of this breakdown. That seems forgotten...
From the same article:
"New G-Class vehicles arriving in Australia later this year will be equipped with softer suspension to give them a better chance against the country’s harshest conditions."
Also, from MB: "We have reduced the pace we are travelling at to ensure the vehicles remain driveable, which all seven of them currently are."

One can hope: BenzBoost - Rumor: Mercedes working on twin turbo V12 G65 AMG G-Wagon
Have CL65 now and if I can talk wifey into '80's design I'd go for it.

Nice one. I just happen to like the car and have read the article before (subscribed to CA).
