The Original Supercar - plus other MBZ's
On a recent trip to Europe, I had the opportunity to visit the Mercedes museum in Stuttgart. Having visited the Porsche museum earlier that day, the MBZ facility had a much more coporate feel, was much larger and felt more like a history museum than a car museum.
Most of the pics are of the 300SL racing variants, but I mixed in a few others for you all to enjoy;
First up is a vehicle titled "The world's fastest transport vehicle - top speed 105 mph" The car it was transporting was pretty fast for its day as well

More SLR's and SL's

While we were in the area, we visited Porsche & MBZ. Unfortunately did not have time to visit BMW and Audi. The Porsche museum was small, intimate and was in a very cool building. The MBZ museum was large and architecturally stunning. It focused on the history of the automobile and truck, and the significant role MBZ played in the development of both. Both are a must see if you are ever in the area.
Also, I had the pleasure (or should I say thrill) of driving the Autobahn between Munich and Stuttgart and all I can say is WOW!!! So many AMG's, M's and S/RS's zooming by at what had to be at 220+ kph (most much faster) The MBZ B180 I rented topped at 190-ish and I was repeatedly passed like I was standing still while going those speeds, often by trains of cars going nose to tail at insane speeds. Such a rush to drive in that area. Next time I need to rent a faster car
