Imagine you're a premium car manufacturer from Japan, working desperately to catch up with the top marks in europe. Then one day, your biggest rival, with an excellent design pedigree, launches a top of the range model - with obivous design cues from your models.

I'm not japanese or employed by Lexus - but I'd be damn proud when I saw these pics though. Suddenly the old 7 looks so much more interesting. And the front overhangs have definitive Quattroporte genes too.

Interesting with the idrive in the rear though. Good thinking there Lex.. sorry BMW.

The best 7series was the one in the 007 Tomorrow never dies other wise I've lost faith with BMW Design wise.

The new 7series looks like a beefed up hyundai mixed with Lexus styling and some old styling cues of the early 1990's 5series BMW. I think BMW should look up to the Jaguar XJ because its an evolution of the very first model, it looks very nice and is understated elegance which is not a land yacht when compared to the S-class,7series and LS460.

I started to think that BMW designers insists on making the first "new car" ugly so they can sell the facelifted model much more !! just how they did with the previous 7 !!
The only real achievement I noticed is bringing back four dial layout on the gauges...

Front grill is too large. Rear looks like the Lexus but looks decent.

Doesn't hold a candle to the new S class or A8.

Imagine being Lexus. You try and try to beat the German premium brands and one day..BMW copies you. Yes, indeed it's a proud day except for the fact that they managed to make one of the most hated car designs (Bangle E65) look classy. What a great day to be a Lexus designer. Kind of like having a daughter that becomes a porn star.

Yikes! I think BMW is trying to make their cars ugly on purpose. Such a travesty can't happen without careful planning.
