Oakville BMW dealership acts as eerie time capsule
An Oakville, Ontario BMW dealership has attracted a wealth of attention on BMW forums and car blogs recently. "Citation Motors" was closed in 1988--but instead of selling off the remaining inventory when he moved, the owner locked up the building and left it exactly as it was.
You can even see the still-new 1988 BMWs in the showroom, as well as the 1980s furniture and office equipment.
Ajax BMW dealership Endras helped popularize the legend of the abandoned dealership, but even they don't know why it was left as-is. They're going off of rumours for the most part.
They're not even sure why Citation Motors was closed in the first place, though they do know it became Downtown Motors when it moved; that dealership closed in 2002.
Endras BMW actually met with the owner recently during one of his routine visits to the property, though he apparently didn't seem interested in clearing up the mystery.
The owner, "firm, but not entire impolite," said, "You have to be crazy about cars, like you and I, to enjoy owning a place like this," reported Endras BMW. "Let the rumours fly, I don't care."

Nice. When I worked at land rover we had a customer lease a range rover, paper work was processed and accepted, and it was all set. Customer either never picked it up, or only did for a short time, but somehow it ended in the back lot. At the same time the leasing company changed, and it was lost forever. It sat for the 6 years I worked there. We didn't own it, so we couldn't do anything with it, we contacted the leasing company but they didn't have the record of it, so it didn't exist. I always told my boss I would drive it until they figured things out. Thing is, it's a POS because it had sat in one spot for that long. It's been years and they moved dealerships, I wonder what happened with the car.
