Athleticism with comfort

BMW UK releases new media of the 2012 BMW 1 Series. The Black Sapphire Metallic 1er features the aggressive M sport package that will be available starting this fall.

In the London area, BMW UK held a photoshoot session of a 118i model with 17-inch light-allow wheel start spoke 379.

The interior shots showcase the new, luxurious design with the freestanding 8.8-inch infotainment screen. The Dakota leather in Coral Red provides a beautiful contrast with the metallic black.

As seen in the video below, the new 1 Series features a bold front that aims to stand out with a pair of large headlights surrounding a flat and smaller than expected kidney grille. The hood sports the creases seen on all the new BMWs and facelifted models.

From the side, the usual character line flows from the rear to the front end, and on its way it creates a series of convex and concave shapes. In the back, the taillights feature integrated LED with the usual L-shape. The car continues to feature a similar hatch-look as the previous generation with a lower positioned trunk and a a more emphasized trunk-lid.

The F20 1 Series remains an European-only model and there are no indication that BMW will bring it across the ocean.

I've definitely warmed up the new design. Interior is spot on more upscale compared to the first gen 1er. Too bad it's not coming to the US.... Looks classy in black. Just add the M Sport package to make it perfect.

I really need to see this in person. I had the previous gen and just can't get over the front here

The rear looks like VW Polo.

The exterior is so... blah. Love the interior, though.

The design is much nicer in person. Looking at a car in 2D doesn't do it any justice.

It's really just the front end I don't like, which could be said for the current 1-series too. Although the current 1-series has grown on me. I still don't like it, but I no longer think it's ugly. The new 1M is wonderful, though.
