The headlights look like they're melting off the body. The rear doesn't look bad at all. The interior looks really cheap and 90's. It really upsets me how over the last 20 years BMW has managed to almost completely dilute and water down their brand with bigger and heavy cars, very, very eccentric, ugly designs, and high front ends. It's disgusting.

It looks like they pulled one into the shop and pumped it with Ben & Jerry's for 6 months!

It doesn't even look sporty. More like a pre-pubescent 7 series.

If you were to take the badging off of the back, you would never know that this was a BMW... I would guess Peugeot or Citroen...

Fugly front and back. I'm starting to hate this car I see so many of these in the streets. In fact I know three people that have a 1 Series... ¬¬

well,it is not solely BMWs decision to make the cars look how they look...
the car design is always linked to new regulations like pedestrian safety(for example high front),passenger safety etc
as well as customer demands like more comfort, flashier exterior and more gadgets ( which all translates into more weight)

You are correct, and these regulations and market demand things suck, but they are nothing new, and BMW does a horrible job coping. Automakers like Porsche are doing a great job by adding all of the worthless features, but making them very discreet, while the still do a great job. Porsche is also presumably avoiding the disgusting looking pedestrian crash regulation high front end by the use of a pop-up hood. Porsche also keeps their designs very simple and timeless.

BMW is trying way too hard, and every time I look at one (specifically the 5er GT) it looks like it was thought up and designed by a committee of 100,000 obese Americans and the government.
