Any experience with a used Mini? Looking to buy one

Looking to buy a used Mini Cooper/One Automatic. Not more than 5 years old.

Have driven few, but does anyone have more experience on how reliable they are.

One of the cars I looked had 35k km on it, which is not much.

thanks.

Fam has owned 5 in total, they've all been solid with no major issues.

I definitely want an automatic, but haven't really decided between a diesel or gasoline.

it looks like diesels are a bit more expensive, though there probably isn't a big difference in fuel consumption.

I can't think of any car that could be remotely considered "fun" configured as a diesel AND an Automatic.

The car will be for city driving mainly so manual is out of the question - there's no fun factor changing gears in traffic jams.

If it's for city driving then go with gasoline not diesel. The only time diesel really shines is on the highway, so unless you're doing long drives / commutes get the gasoline version IMO. Either way they are fun little cars, my friend's sister has one and we've taken it out and had fun drving around in it. She's had it for 3 years now and besides oil changes, nothing needed to be done. Get the S you'll enjoy it that much more.

My wife has had one for over 4 years. We bought it with 50K miles. It's an '03 Cooper S with manual transmission and all packages. I just put new brakes on at 80K but have only had to change the oil otherwise. They're really fun cars.
