Agreed Value for my E30

So it looks like Safeco, which is what I have, can and will do Agreed Value for my E30 once the restoration porject is complete.

I am going to insure it for 12K to 15K (still deciding on the final insured amount versus premium) with everything I am putting into it.

For those of you with older BMW's that you have put a good amount of money into it, you might want to look into this so you don't get screwed by the insurance book value.

For example, E30 M3 is valued at 4K.

As anyone who knows anything about E30 M3 will tell you, 4K will buy you a rolling shell that needs paint.

Don't get screwed! Get insured!

That's ridiculous! I would be livid if I had a beautiful E30 and I got screwed like that.

Yep, book value is 4K.

Crazy huh?

Agreed value isn't that much money for me, which is why I decided to post in case people haven't thought about it.

I know I didn't. And thankfully the car has not been hit or in any accident so far. I mean, after 160K miles I put on the car, I have replaced:

Clutch
Radiator
AC
Drive shaft
Muffler
Half shafts
Engine
Sparkplug wires
Sunroof motor
both driver and passenger window motor
Battery cables
New OEM Evo steering wheel

And now that all the mechanical things have been sorted, I am doing an interior overhaul.

The book value is something like 1K at best.

Any reason you didn't just go for the M3, then?

I learned to drive on an '88 528e - just a car that had been in the family and could be subjected to some clutch wear - and it could use some TLC. Well, a lot of TLC. My dad replaced his 911 with it a few months before I was born - apparently mom wouldn't let him get an M5 , so he got the cheaper car and a truck, too.

The car started out as a beater. The M3 was too nice to be a beater.

6 years later I decided to restore the car due to some sentimental thing (the mrs passed my test in this car when I drove it seriously sideways in the rain and she didn't freak out).
