Question about 1/4 mile time
#11
Biggest problem is that not many of manufactures gave info about 1/4 mile times, mostly the US car brands. I found site like this: https://www.0-60specs.com/dodge-challenger-0-60-times/ Seems very professional and real informations, what you think?

Almost all manufacturers reporting the 0-200 km/h numbers. They are close to 1/4 mile.
E.g. 2017 991.2 Turbo S
0-60specs.com
10.6 sec - 211 km/h - 131 mph - 1/4 mile run - Car and Driver (Test)
Porsche claim
9.9 sec - 200 km/h - (124 mph) - 0-200 km/h run - with Sport Chrono Paket
The numbers (cars on stock) of 0-60specs.com and other boards are ok and real but you will never know tires, drag strip or race track or what ever.
For tuned cars, there is no alternative. Best drag strip you can get, best tires (slicks or better qualifier) you can get and off you go.

Yea, the sport brands like Porsche, Ferrari and Lambo always give info about 0-200 km/h, but the rest... Just forget it
BMW, Audi, Mercedes always give 0-100 data and i think it's not for what we buy a sport car, to run always 0-100, 50-100, 30-100 etc. We buy it to drive fast
So for me personally 0-100 in 3.0 or 3.3 sec is less interesting than 0-200 in 9.9 or 12.5 sec, it's much more important.

I agree, the question "how compare the xxx with others", so 0-200 km/h or 1/4 mile tells a lot. Additionally, the lap time from a difficult track, but many variables influencing the results. 1/4 mile: tires, track, driver. Lap time: tires, driver racing skills.
Manufacturers playing around with all this stuff. It's not the case, that press cars are always given with the ability of best times. I saw 991 Turbo S in Motor Trend comparison with Mercedes-AMG GTS and Nissan GT-R 45th Anniversary and Motor Trend best drivers car in Laguna seca on Dunlop Maxx Race. Same car in Porsche vs. Porsche GT comparison, e.g. 991 Turbo S vs. GT3 or GT3 RS stands always on Pirelli P Zero, may be obviously not to close or better than own competitors - track cars.
It's hard to get the informations, that best characterize the car.
