Took it to the beach this morning for breakfast
And again, not planning on tearing down the drag strip in this. Going with the Dmax or cummins would create a far more reliable vehicle, go from 10mpg to 16-20mpg, off roading will be better and easier, and simply driving around town will be more enjoyable. And a Prius can no longer pass lol.

If we follow that logic, guys with super car collections and any modified cars are compensating for having small wee-wees too... It makes sense now right?
No brainer then - if they can do it well, get the Cummins.
Even if you're not planning on getting insane with the mods, it's the better engine. You will want an 03-06 Common rail 5.9. Do not get an 07 or newer engine, you do not want an EGR or DPF.
For the weight of the H1 the driving characteristics of the Cummins will suit it better. The Duramax drives more like a gasser, the Cummins torque curve peaks at 1400-1600RPM and is flat all the way to redline.
For the HP level you want you're going to want to get an Airdog or something to make sure the CP3 high pressure fuel pump stays well lubricated. Other than that, a tune, intake, exhaust and possible larger turbo(s) will do it. You could get away with a properly sized single turbo or if you want the ultimate, a set of towing twins which would be a twin kit using the stock turbo as the high pressure and adding a larger atmosphere turbo.
