I picked up a GTI 4dr as a DD and it has been a great car so far. Everything I could ever want in a DD.

I reccomended that he should get a used one, and he bought a v6 with some hks mods for less than the 2.0 T! Imagine 380-390 hp vs. like 220 or whatever 2.0's hp is. Seriouslyi reccomend used cars greatly. If you dont like the thought of getting a used car, then choose a new impreza, im sure itll be great fun. But i really reccomend getting a used car.
So you recommend I buy a RWD, 390 hp car that my wife will occasionally drive in snow storms? Lol, not really going to work.

I have a Lotus for when I want to drive quickly. For daily driving, I want safe, efficient and practical.

And I have nothing against used cars. I could easily get a like-new WRX for 20k, but then be stuck with much higher insurance, poor mileage, and much more expensive maintenance. Same with an Evo. No point.

This is now a serious consideration. I had an 09 TT for a while, which is basically a less practical GTi. It was quite fun, and the GTi would be a great mix of everything. What could I expect to pay for an oil change at a VW dealer for this?

And the 2.0 engines worry me a bit. They are bullet proof, but build up tons of gunk in the heads. Not a cheap fix, but that's really the only thing wrong with these cars.

Maintenance is included for 3yr/36k miles, so I don't know what the oil changes cost. I hear the older FSI motors had more of a problem with buildup, although the TSIs still have it too.

Buy that new Toyosubarion thing.

Ok, I just like the hybrid name. Stick with the McLaren GT3 RSR Cabriolet. Err, I mean, the Subaru.
