AMP, Advanced Mechanical Product, is an electric sports car company based out of Cincinnati, Ohio that is focused on converting Saturn’s models into electric cars. Why Saturn? Well, AMP believes that Saturn cars are lightweight and high-quality American vehicles.

First in AMP’s electric vehicle lineup is the Saturn Sky. Out goes the 2.4 liter 4-clyinder engine and in goes AMP’s electric motor capable of producing over 300 horsepower. That will give the Saturn Sky the ability to do 0-60 in 5.7 seconds with a top speed of 90mph.

Even with all that performance, the Saturn Sky has a combined fuel-economy of 125mpg and the ability to do 150 miles on a single charge. The cost of conversion will be an additional $25,000 over however much your Saturn Sky (which starts at $26,145) costs. Oh and if you want to convert your Sky into an electric sports car, you better hurry up because AMP is only taking 300 orders, which went effective on May 20, 2008. AMP plans on an electric version of the Saturn Vue as well as the Aura in the near future.
