Mark is probably the only straight guy on this forum that could pull off driving a new Beetle.

 

Saw one at the local VW dealer, it looks really tough I like it. Far, far better look than the last 'new beetle'. The Beetle R concept from IAA is awesome too.

 

+1; i'd def. drive a classic super beetle, but not a huge fan of the newer style. I will admit though, these do look better then when they first came out with the new beetle.

 

I saw one for the first time yesterday, and I thought it looked futuristic and modern, but still feminine. And besides its basically just a re styled Jetta which we all know is one of the biggest POS cars of the year.

 

Actually the Jetta is a very good car, that VW stripped in order to sell more units (it starts at 16k, what else do you expect)... This is their entry-level, volume sedan. The Jetta GLI has better quality interior materials, independent rear suspension, and the same engine as the GTI (but costs nearly twice the base Jetta).

The GTI is a fine car, and consistently a top pick from critics for its combination of utility, efficiency, and fun driving characteristics. The Beetle is essentially a GTI/GLI with a different body/interior, and unique tuning for intake and exhaust. Factor in the price, plus the fact that you can get it with leather, nav, sunroof, bluetooth, etc. and you have a home run in my opinion. Don't believe me? Wait 6 months and you will see tens of thousands of them everywhere. I am pretty sure VW knows what they are doing.
