The Car Show

Bit of a rant here but I am trying to like "The Car Show". Last nights episode featuring an interview with Bruce Canepa, turned out to be a self serving pump my own tires bit for Adam Carolla, and his love for Datsuns. Out of all the rare and interesting cars Canepa has they focused only on a Datsun, weak, and then oh theres the last Shelby to ever be made but thats not really as important as a rich guys old Datsun that he threw enough money at to win once.
Also I find the segments are way to short especially when you have access to all those great cars, they could have made an entire show on Canepa's garage but we are then "treated" to a NBA players collection of a DONK, Rolls, Maybach and Bentley driving through the hood in Chicago.

Dan Neil is great, Salley is actually pretty entertaining, Matt Farah brings value but Carolla brand of humor is brutal.

Top Gear UK set the bar way to high for any US based car production.

Without Carolla the show might actually be okay, but his voice alone grates on my nerves too much for it to be enjoyable.

I saw the first epsisode and I haven't been masochistic enough to tune in since.

Top Gear USA on the other hand has improved drastically from season 1.

Agree 100% with Alzilla.

TGUSA keeps getting better.

My main issue with The Car Show is that the segments are so short, just when you are starting to get into it, they move on to some other thing. I think they are trying to fit to much into each episode.

I dont mind Corolla too much, I think he is actually funny sometimes, but the format sucks.

I haven't watched Top Gear USA after Episode 2 I guess I'll have to start watching Season 2 if it's getting better, for me the bar was set way too high with Top Gear UK for USA to be something worth watching the first or second season.

The last episode of TG USA as very good. The one with all of the challenges for Tanner. The Car Show is better than TG USA was in its first season. They can always improve the segments, the important thing to me is the hosts and the chemistry between them, and in that department The Car Show wins hands down. ON TG USA, Tanner is good, Adam is OK, but is poorly cast, and Rutledge is downright annoying. On TCS, Adam is really funny (if a bit crude), Matt & Dan are legit and very good, John Salley is useless.

UK Top Gear vs US Top Gear season 2, hate to admit it, but US is better.

Now they have had the chance to build off a fully amazing current UK top gear, but nonetheless it is coming along well.

Unfortunately one of the things that makes UK top gear great is they are willing and often critical of new cars. Lets see if USTG has the cojones to be so open in the US advertising controlled media market.

I think the US Top Gear has had better segments this year than UK Top Gear, but the hosts still need a little work, their chemistry hasnt quite hit that natural stride that the UK Top Gear has.

Big E, I dont disagree with anything you said, the hosts are fine, I could do without Sally, but that's just because he doesnt really add anything to the show, the other 3 are good and seem knowledgable.

I just wish the segments were more involved, or informative. If you saw the test of the 458 Italia it was terrible. Dan goes out to the Ferrari test track in Italy, drives the 458, and all it turns out to be is 2:00 minute segment. The camera footage sucked too. I just think they could make those kinds of segments so much more interesting.

I enjoy watching The Car Show. I wouldn't really use it as a source of information, but I find it quite entertaining. Plus I loved Adam Carolla in the Man Show, so his humor has carried over to The Car Show. I think the segments are too short because there are so many commercials.

But give them time. As you guys said, Top Gear US has dramatically improved. Top Gear UK had the same chemistry issues when they started. It takes time to develop the chemistry.

I've only been watching isolated segments but it looks like they already axed John Salley.
