I'm an avid Old School fan, but the instruments should fit the personality, interior and overall feel of the car. For instance, I could not imagine integrating Pagani style instruments into a Ferrari 458. Both cars seem to have instruments that suit each of them perfectly.

I prefer analog for now because those digital gauges look funny when I wear polarized sunglasses.

Interesting, it still seems that the majority still favor analogue gauges!
I hope they stick around for good decade or two

Dude, electronic gauges are the wave of the future! Check out the 2011 Wheego LiFe! Just like an Aventador or Lexus LFA!

I don't think it gets much better than the gauge cluster in a 911.

Seriously though, traditional gauges will always have a place in performance cars, because they're the simplest and most succint way to communicate information. You don't read gauges, you just glance at them. The position of the needle relative to the info on the gauge tells you what you need to know.

That's why you see a lot of track cars with the gauges rotated. Needle straight up, everything's okay. I rotated my tach so that redline is straight up. I don't really even have to look at it, it's in my peripheral vision.

Sorry for the crappy pic.

I'm a big fan of TFT (esp. configurable) in modern cars. Here are some favorites:

LFA

Aventador

599 GTO (sort of a mix)

That said, I LOVE analog gauges in older cars. These are serious car porn for me:

This is the perfect set up IMO.

And go figure, Porsche kind of has the same set up.
