I really want to like it but I am still that guy that has a beef with government motors and the front end looks like a Ford Super Duty. I hate how all the truck companies just copy each others looks and then slap their badge on it. When the new rams came out everything started to look like those then the superduty was the hot seller and now things look like that.
I like the direction they're going but just pissed they couldn't be more original and I highly doubt it will ever get those tires.

The Gov't Motors deal I don't get. Ford was going for the same handout until they found out they would get bitch slapped by the general public. They changed consessions with their Unions so they didn't have to go Banko at the same time. I believe when these consessions are paid back Ford will still have to look to the Federal Gov't to pay back the 3-4 years of promisses they made to the unions. So don't hold your breathe too long. They owe a lot back payments.

I have read a few places that Ford had the foresight to see the impact of the recession that was coming and that was why they leased/mortgages almost every single asset they had even their famous blue oval was put at risk. This gave them the necessary capital needed to withstand what we now call the great recession. GM just pisses me off they ran out hands open and just looked stupid in the public eye imo. How can one of the greatest American companies just suck and beg that bad. Chrysler is just a shit hole so that's why I won't bring then into this conversation.
All said and done maybe I just like Alan Mulally for some reason. That all said I do still like some of the GM products and seriously love your truck h20, had one like it for a while in black though.

I hope I'm wrong about Ford and several friends of mine have gone Ford way for your very reasoning. 1 in 9 American jobs are tied to the Motorcar business so I was behind the bailout actually. Way more than bailing out the banks. I'm not for Unions and they need to go away. Cut 15-20% off the wage of every employee at the Big 3 and they become somewhat competitive again and you've only cut out the Union money. The workers would be paid the same. It's sad and needs to be controlled.
I won't say that the new Raptor Ford didn't make me turn twice when I saw the front end. Good looking truck from that side. In the end it's still a Ford to me and I just don't like anything about the way they drive and ride. My truck and tahoe are the two cars in my household that are just fricking comfortable and make 4-8 hour trips a breeze. Like driving down the road in a couch. Ford doesn't do that. I agree lets keep Dodge out of it. They aren't even in the same league. Some of the Titan's and Tundra's are really starting to look good as well but American Made will be the only pickup ever to land in my driveway.

I fully agree and hear everything you are saying. I was also for the bailout given the impact on "our" world it would have. I just can also respect the company that didn't need to do it. Your last statement also ranks totally true for me as well. My father actually send a remodeling crew off the property and off the job for pulling up in all imported trucks. May be a little extreme but I like the message.

In 2008 the Tundra was 2nd behind the f150 being "American" made. GM had the axle strike and production was shifted to Mexico.

It tows 8k, which ain't too shabby. But that's beside the point, it was never designed as a tow / work vehicle, it's a baja buggy.
This thing is more in the vein of the Dodge Power Wagon, which comes with a solid front axle IIRC. But no diesel, the winch goes where the intercooler would normally sit.
