First car!
I'm planning on buying my first car sometime in the next few months, probably soon after New Years, and I'd like some opinions on what to go for.
So far I know I'm looking for:
I've been looking at the BMW 3 series, the Infiniti G37, the Mazda RX-8 (my favourite for a long time until I found out how unreliable the rotary engine is) and the Nissan 350z. Any other suggestions would be welcome.
p.s. If these topics aren't allowed, somebody please let me know and I'll delete it.
So far I know I'm looking for:
- Some sort of coupe
- Good handling and horsepower
- A decent amount of features
- Relatively good safety ratings
- Around $25K, new or used (don't want to go too much over that, but if it's a great car I don't mind spending some extra. I'd rather buy used, also, if only to avoid the immediate depreciation)
- Something that won't be breaking down on me every month.

..great reliable first car!
Anyway, i would stay away from the performance benchmark sedans (335i/S4) but depending on whether or not you need 4wd a 328i or B7 A4 will do you well. Wait a couple of years, and get some miles under your belt before hitting up the big hp.
Within your other choices, I'd take the G37 > 350Z, but again, a bit powerful for first cars.

Check to see what your insurance rates would be like or each of your cars. The younger you are, the more this matters. Since this is your first car, I assume that you're around 16. If your parents are taking care of your insurance, I say go with a used 3-series.
