How long do you keep your cars ?
How long do you keep your cars is the question of this thread ?
This question just popped in my head today, a friend of mine was telling me that my Cayenne S is getting to look outdated and told me to change it..he said if the new model is out then its a sign to change the car.
Irregardless of his mentality, I have a different perspective If I like it and it suites me then its fine. My car is nearly 5 years old, when I bought it I paid a hefty amount so that I can get a nice car and wear it out( min 7 years ) instead of flipping cars every while and then.
My future target is to keep my current DD, use it less frequently only for long trips and get something exotic like an SLS which I like at the moment.
So how long do you keep your cars, keep in mind its a Daily car ?

Normally I get bored after two years, but market volatility and increased expenses elsewhere in life have prompted me to re-examine that. Plus I love my stupid POS truck that I've had for 3.5 years and nothing is really making my dick hard the way my Cayman does.

Daily Drivers: So far 1 at less than a year, 1 at 9+ years, and 1 at 7+ years. The rest are all dead and gone.
Weekenders: I always plan on keeping them forever, but so far the M3 lasted less than 2 years and the GT3 made it to just over 2 years. The kart is the long-term winner so far!

Well on average about a car a year... in '06 I went through 6 cars, a couple more in '07, another one in '08, got my current cars in '09, and likely getting my wife a TT-S in a few months.
I wish I could hang onto cars longer since I don't pay cash and the negative equity always kicks me in the junk. At this point, I'll probably keep the 911 at least long enough to break even. My GTI will be a keeper - after warranty, I'll turn it into my track slut.
