Volvo Automatic Brake Test. Epic Fail.

Yes, that didn't go quite so well. It's similar to when Mercedes tried out their anti-collision system some years back but had forgotten to tell the test driver to turn on the system He just ran straight into some other S-classes. Unfortunetely for Volvo, I think the system didn't work here.
There were some theories in the newspaper that the battery on the car was faulty and they had just quickly charged it before the test. Sounds quite stupid to me and there was no real test driver in the car, whom could've seen any error messages popping up.

I don't think automatic braking systems will be viable for at least another 20 years unless the DOT and NHTSA ban all modern automobile or force owners to have such system retrofitted, and good luck doing that...
Better idea would just be to beat it into peoples' heads during driver's ed that you need to be paying attention at all times when behind the wheel instead of talking on the phone, reading the paper, putting on makeup, or rubbing one out (I'm looking at you, Jox) while driving.
