Awesome Visit to Dawn Treader Performance

Hiya chaps, thought you'd be interested to see the pics I took whilst at special invite visit to Dawn Treader Performance Ltd who specialise is restoring historic race cars here in the UK.

Me and my friend Danny popped down to see Patrick Morgan at DT performance on Saturday, first off I have to say Patrick is such a great chap and one of the most genuine people your ever likely to meet with such enthusiasm and passion for his work its truly awe inspiring. For those of you who read UK's EVO magazine you’ll see they are currently mid way through the complete restoration of the D2 German DTM car which when we were there is on a rotating spit following is re-spray ready for the start of re-assembly. Patrick gave us a insight into the car and how its put together and its truly a crazy piece of kit.

We then checked out Patricks cars which included Penske PC26 which is currently featured in this months UK motorsport magazine. I got to sit in the car to get a drivers view whilst Patrick ran through the cockpit features. Must be crazy to drive with 820bhp driving the rear wheels !!!

Then we moved onto a truly awesome car, Ayrton Senna’s 1986 Lotus 98T. For me one of the best years in F1 history where turbo powered cars reached some crazy BHP levels. The car is absolutely stunning and was such a pleasure being talked through the cars construction etc by Patrick, and Danny this time took to the cockpit.

Then next in line was a 1990 Leighton House which since its restoration came 2nd in the Goodwood Festival of Speed event last year in its first trip out up the hill.

And last in this line up was the Penske PC19, which was Emerson Fittipaldi’s spare car during the second half of the 1990 CART season.

Also on-site was Patricks Porsche 956 which raced at Le Mans back in its heyday.

And a Connaught B7

It’s a day I’ll remember for a long time, but can’t wait to see the DTM car at the Goodwood event this year which is hopefully when it will be ready by.

For all the pics I took on the day feel free to have a gander at the following link - DTPerformance

If you want more information on any of these cars you can check them out on the DT Performance website - Dawn Treader Home

And if like me, historic race cars are your bag then their other website is a great read - index
