Now with truck like that, you don't really raise the clearance since the axle is still so low. I always see that. Is there a way to raise the axle, and have it go down on the sides?

Yup. They're called portal axles. Unimogs come with them stock, unlike that poseur BigFoot lookalike. Volvo 303s have them as well, Pinzgauers too (although they're not solid axles).

I'm a fan of huge wheel travel, massive tires, but as little lift as possible.

Here's an FJ55 on portals (not stock, obvisouly). Solid axles, tucked out of trouble. Win.

That truck is dumb. It would look so much better if it was larger. Not stupid undrivable large but bigger to the point that it actually has a purpose.
