Winding Road List: The Ten Most Beautiful Cars Of The Decade

List: The Ten Most Beautiful Cars Of The Decade

Mercedes-Benz CLS — Though it might not be the most outrageously beautiful car ever, the CLS paved the way for other four-door coupe-styled vehicles like the Volkswagen CC and even the 2011 Hyundai Sonata.

As 2009 comes to a close, we've been reflecting on the many cars that have stood out over the past decade. And though many cars are revered for their great levels of performance or their overall presence in the automotive marketplace, a car's design is easily the most recognizable trait that lingers in our minds.

As 2010 draws closer, we've seen a larger influence on technology and fuel-saving powertrains, but we musn't forget that there have been some outrageously gorgeous designs to hit the streets over the past ten years. Here, we present to you, the most beautiful cars of the last decade.

But the beautiful cars of the 2000s aren't just limited to these ten. Sound off with your own list of gorgeous designs.

Maserati GranTurismo — This long, lean, sassy two-plus-two is an Italian masterpiece. Great to look at, and even better to drive, it has breathed new life into the Maserati brand.

Aston Martin DB9 — Aston's signature styling language has never looked better on this stunning Grand Tourer. A stylish, elegant coupe that is sure to turn heads at every stoplight.

Alfa Romeo 8C Competizone — Art on wheels, pure and simple. Alfa's 8C could easily go down in history as one of the best-looking cars of all time.

Audi R8 — The R8 is a few years old now, but it's still one of the most striking vehicles on sale today. It doesn't look like anything else on the road and it was the first to wear Audi's now-signature LED daytime running lamps.

Nissan 350Z (2004-2008) — When Nissan re-launched the Z sports car in the early 2000s, its unique shape and cunning design helped set it apart from other two-seaters, and rekindled our fondness for one of Japan's best enthusiast machines.

Audi TT (2000-2006) — Audi's TT, in its current form, is a pretty little sports car, but it's the original TT's design that steals our hearts. As far as iconic designs of the twenty-first century go, this one will easily be remembered for decades to come.

Lamborghini Murciélago — At first glance, it is obvious that the Murciélago is nothing short of Italian supercar goodness. As good to drive as it is great to look at, the Murc created a whole new design language for Lamborghini, and its strong design is sure to age well in the coming decades.

Ferrari 599 — The 599 two-plus-two is elegant, sophisticated, and pure Ferrari, as is the sweet-sounding V-12 under the bonnet.

Porsche Cayman — Porsche's 911 may be one of the most recognizable designs of all time, but its gotten quite large over the years. The smaller, nimbler Cayman is an even better driver's car with classic Porsche style.

On my list the Z and maybe even the TT and the CLS have to go, would add maybe a Ford GT

a Passat CC rather than the CLS

and an S5 over the TT

Can Mercedes sue over a statement like this?

Mercedes-Benz CLS — Though it might not be the most outrageously beautiful car ever, the CLS paved the way for other four-door coupe-styled vehicles like the Volkswagen CC and even the 2011 Hyundai Sonata.
That can't help the brand much.

In all seriousness it is missing the Carrera GT. And the Alfa 8C is my top choice.
