My new commuter...VW TDI

I got tired of getting 20mpg in my Audi on my 110 mile commute so I bit the bullit and bought a new 2010 VW Jetta TDI. This thing is awesome! I never thought I would like it this much. It has good power and the DSG transmission is really nice. To top it all off, I have been averaging about 40mpg.

This is my first VW since my 1984 Rabbit GTI (if you don't count my audi, and numerous Porsche 914s). I would like to get some 17 inch wheels, and tires and maybe lower it an inch or two, but I am really happy with it so far.

I drive a Golf TDI. I love the car for the mileage, but man they are not performance cars!

Had a '06 Jetta TDI, same color as commuting whore. 84k miles in almost 3 years. Lifetime average was 52MPG with hardcore hyper miling. Every iteration of their TDIs is worse on gas mileage but better for the environment, go figure ...

Thanks guys! I never thought I would be one to brag about my gas mileage, but things change I guess.

I now have over 10,000 miles on the car in the first three months and I'm still loving it. The DSG is really good and from what I have read is much better than the pre 2010 models. I put some shocks and springs on the car to lower it a couple inches, and as soon as these all weather tires wear out I'll get some new wheels and tires.
