The 24 Hours of Lemons thread
#27
I can tell everyone is fascinated by all this by the multitudes of posts. We were working all day yesterday to get it through tech and passed with 5 minutes to spare--didn't even get a chance to shakedown the car. I took the start this morning and it was mayhem. I got black flagged twice, first for having the light bar ("someone might think you are an actual emergency vehicle" was the official reason) then again not more than 6 laps later because someone thought the light bar was cool and wanted to do a parade with the other emergency-themed cars (official reason: "bad luck"). Uh, yeah they made us disconnect the light bar dude. So that little stint cost us maybe 6-7 laps. Then they made us change drivers, so I only got one stint for ~40 mins.
At the end of my session we were 60 out of 98. Put our 2nd driver in and despite whacking an e30 his solid 1:30 session moved us up to 47th. We're slow as dirt out there but people are spinning and crashing like crazy out there, so if we can keep our noses clean we could do ok.
There's a pair of MK1 GTIs doing a Spy vs. Spy theme, a few inappropriate rescue vehicles (but ours has the coolest sirens), not one but TWO FIAT X1-9s, a serious Mad Max-esque MK1 Celica, a Geo Metro with what sounds like a GSX-R1000 motor in it, a Molly Maid themed Miata complete with hot chicks in French maid outfits, a V8 Volvo or two, at least two Saabs that constantly sound on the verge of exploding and one DSM AWD Talon that came REALLY close (leaky gas tank).
I'm back home because I have a stupid wedding to go to tonight, but I'll be back there tomorrow 8am and hopefully I'll get a couple of sessions. Been taking lots of pics but I'm pretty busy so they're kind of the "drive-by" variety so expect no better than Jox quality

I'll be here following this thread. Sucks that you have to go to a wedding, as I would love to be there for the whole 24 hours. Being that I'm planning to do this in the next year or so, I'm very much looking forward to hearing all about your experience.
