I've gotta admit... I would totally rock a VW Scirocco R.

VAG in general is probably one of the most forward thinking and insightful automotive groups... They manage to stay in the black and learn from others mistakes.

Like you said, they are very very cautious.

I would take a GTI or an E38 M-coupe of it any day of the week. I think it looks odd.

our rep told us the only one they were seriously considering was the R version. it would have been around 35K, but everything would have been standard. in that case they were not planning to bring the R20 GTI/Golf, which I would have been fine with. Our rep seemed surprised when I told him I would have paid that for it, no problem. as nice as the R20 will be, I don't think I could spend 35K on it though.....(we'll see)....just doesn't look the same. plus, I have a mkII scirocco, so I kinda have a soft spot for them.
they are def. cautious though, and it shows. they are really the only "giant" that has not seen absolutely catastrophic sales slide globally, even amidst the recession. I mean, Audi managed to still pull off a 13th record year for global sales, and broke 1Mil in sales for the 1st time. they've def. got their game on. 2009 should be interesting, and 2010 should see some pretty cool stuff come from the VAG boys. I can't wait.

VW really did an outstanding job with the Scirocco R. I'd love to see it come stateside even though I doubt that'll ever happen.
