Spot of the day

Some Jaguar thing. Still had British registration on it. Anyone know what it is or the story there?

I don't know what it is. But I suspect that the "68" is the year of the car and that the SPC 982 might designate a certain racing division. That's the best I can do.

I am going to call it a 1950s D-Type of some sort.

Definitely not a Jag. At first I was thinking it might be an Allard or something similar from the front is way to pointy for that. I'm really at a loss as to what it might be... Only thing I can think of is that it might be a kit car.
