So; how about a 558hp VW van?

So, if you're blessed/cursed with a bunch of children, and don't fancy a roll-over-prone SUV or a slow MPV, get this one. A bunch of blokes in Berlin called TH Automobile takes a regular VW T5 Multivan, yanks the 150 diesel engine out the front, plonks a 558ps 996TT engine in the back and hooks it up to the rear wheels instead of the usual fwd nonsense. And off you go. Fortunately, they also upgrade the brakes and suspension.

They get you some Porsche interior bits too, which I think looks a bit odd, but I suppose that the van has earned it.

Looks pretty comfy in the back, too.

And check out the red-hot exhaust on the dyno:

Starts at 145.000 Euro, which is about the same as a brand spanking new 911 Turbo in Germany, as far as I can tell. Options include four-wheel drive, and keeping the OE diesel in the front, if you like having two engines.
In my opinion, this is stuperb! I want one, and I don't even have kids. And if I did, I'd scare the crap out of them at every roundabout.

I like it. It kind of reminds me of a more restrained and usable version of the Renault Epsace F1 project from 1995

That is so freaking badass! Too bad the shifter sticks out of the dash like that and ruins an otherwise awesome interior.

The Porsche steering wheel kinda ruins it, but what a car!
You should be able to make something like this for significantly less money. Maybe not use a Porsche engine, but a cheaper one.

you can also choose to keep the diesel engine upfront and have that power the front wheels!
