Judging by these pics, this version looks a lot lamer than the previous GTi. Front is just too bland.

Yeah, I actually think that the MkV looks better than the new one, so much so that they could have made the MkVI and then "updated" it to the MkV, and people would have been happier. Yes, the interior is better, but this car cannot compete with the current Mazdaspeed 3, let alone the next one. Furthermore, the US market will be given a new engine that still only produces 197 hp ... the same as the old car! And all this in a package that I can comfortably presume will be heavier!

Big miscue.

I think VW missed it once again. I really like the rear end but the front leaves something to be desired. I personally think the car is pretty blah and is def lacking power to compete with other cars in the price range.
