a valid argument. the dealers could not do something like this without all the cash coming from the auto companies because there isn't a 50% markup on these cars. More like 3% but of course that depends on the compnay (I sell VWs for instance, it's 3%)

BUT, if this would happen, no one would ever buy a car at regular price again. Just like some people won't buy a car if it doesn't have 0% APR. These huge cash incentives and special financing offers weren't always around. It took 9/11 for this to happen. So, now if the auto companies will be selling cars at 50% discount, the consumer will wait around for another sale like this. It'll start a vicious cycle

Travelled from DC to NY this past weekend, driving along 895 past the shipyards in Baltimore. Thousands of vehicles sitting in lots there as well. It is an unreal sight in person.
