Unsold Cars Around The World
#21
I think if the auto dealers were smart the would put on an OBO sale with a not to exceed 50% off MSRP. They don't need to advertise what they are willing to accept. Let the buyer dertermine the value of the car and what they are willing to pay. The auto company takes the loss. These auto companies have to realize they have to move these cars. They are not being started they are basically rotting away in the elements (hot or cold) and dealers need to be paid for the cars they sold as well as a commision for the salesman. This is no different then having bad assets on the books like banks. They need to flush out the inventory. I am not a lawyer but I am sure they can put together some sort of arrangement where they can unload these cars.
BUT, if this would happen, no one would ever buy a car at regular price again. Just like some people won't buy a car if it doesn't have 0% APR. These huge cash incentives and special financing offers weren't always around. It took 9/11 for this to happen. So, now if the auto companies will be selling cars at 50% discount, the consumer will wait around for another sale like this. It'll start a vicious cycle
