Looking to Buy an SUV (Help Needed)

Hey everyone,

My father is in the market to buy an SUV and the decision will come out of 4 potential choices. They are: 2006 Range Rover Sport, Audi Q7, Mercedes-Benz GL450 or 2007 Cadillac Escalade. So could anyone help me out on deciding what clearly stands out as the winner?

,Thanks

I would focus on the Audi and Mercedes. As you will find out, the RR's are known to have terrible reliability.

Pretty tough to say without getting more information on what he needs from it. Regardless, he can toss out the idea of the RR Sport (especially the non-SC version). I've driven both the Q7 and GL 450 extensively. I prefer the Q7 in every aspect, most notably the electronics and driving feel. If it were me, I'd be deciding between the Q7 (assuming he is thinking 4.2) and Escalade.

IMO the Escalade is crap, The RRS is due for a facelift next year so is the GL and the Q7 is ugly

Thanks for the opinions guys, and yeah I've heard the Range Rover had reliability issues. I think the Q7 might be what we want, but I'm still unsure..

The new RR has reliability issues? I knew the old gen. did but not the latest one...

I'd go for the Q7 every time, but possibly check the larger diesel out too. RR would be last on the list.

Back that statement up please! I am 75% set on a RRS with the other 25% on the full size RR (both diesels).

The quality of the interior is terrible and the non-SC is slow.

I've been driving the RRS a fair amount lately and whilst the interior isn't exactly plush or that comfortable i don't see anything terribly wrong with it.

I don't think the non SC is too slow for what it is either to be honest as it goes nicely on the freeway and it's just fine around town. The brakes are fantastic IMO.
