I just read about this family last month, their son ended up crashing the F50.
Their F50 is back!

As put in the other thread. Their McLaren F1.

Credits go to Justin (found these on a local forum).

Mike, any idea what the repair bill would have been on that F50? It looked in a sorry state after the crash.

I must make a plan to go down there and have a look, haven't been before.

I would estimate anywhere from 3-5 million Rands if not more ($650,000 USD = 5 mill Rands). I was at Rosso in Midrand when they were still fixing the car. It was shipped up here to be repaired and then sent back to Cape Town.

A lot of the parts such as, the suspension, control arms had to be refabricated from scratch by the original manufacturers as they obviously no longer made or kept in stock. They want to keep the car original for obvious reasons and spared no expense to restore it back to 100% original.

Wow I was thinking around the 2 mill mark but 5 is crazy. One wonders if it wouldn't have been cheaper to just have bought another one.

From what i have read about them in the past, sounds like a pretty cool family.

Wicked collection of cars as well. Stunning museum. Did you take any of the outside?

Some pics from the weekend. They had some classic event there. I was unfortunately not in that part of the country. Most of the cars pictured belong to Dr. Rupert.

Photo's courtesy of a local called Jacques.

DB4 GT. Look how PERFECT this car looks, I could eat off the engine!
