VW Scirocco Study R revealed in Bologna From WCF
It seems VW may have mixed up their motor shows lately. Last week the ornamentally trimmed out Scirocco Exclusive Edition debuted at the youthful fire breathing Essen Motor Show which focuses on high performance tuning and styling to the extreme. And now VW reveals this hot street version of the Nurburgring double winner Scirocco GT24 at mainstream focused Bologna show?
Regardless, the Scirocco Study R forecasts what we can expect to see when it replaces the Golf R32 towards the end of 2009 as the rumored R20T. The Study R is powered by the same 2.0-liter TFSI engine found in the current Audi S3 but produces 5hp more for a total of 270hp (198kW). Transmission is a six-speed DSG dual-clutch gearbox and other goodies include adjustable coilover suspension, four-piston brake calipers and sound-optimized exhaust system.
The exterior is distinguished with a close resembling GT24 front bumper fascia and hood vents, integrated headlamp daytime driving LEDs, red colored side view mirror housings, roof spoiler, rear bumper fascia with fitted dual exhaust diffuser design.
