Shined the Garage Floor Up a Bit
I spend most of my time lurking around TS, gazing at the amazing homes/garages that some of you have. One thing I've noticed that almost every "nice" garage has is a good coat of epoxy or stain on the floor. So, I decided to get my hands dirty and lay down some concrete protection myself.
With help from a neighbor, I de-greased, chemically treated, and epoxied my 2-car garage this past weekend. Since our house is only two years old the cleaning portion of the project wasn't as difficult as I had expected. The worst part was moving all of our garage clutter to the neighbors house and storing it there for 3+ days while the curing process took place.
I hesitated adding a second clear coat for added protection since we don't expect to live in this house for a terribly long time. Should we decide to hunker down for a while I may have it recoated professionally later on.
Here are some photos of the finished product. If anyone has experience with maintaining epoxied concrete I'm open to feedback, tips, etc.

I used the RustOleum brand. The hardest part was clearing out the garage (and filling it back up). After that I'd say taping the baseboards was the second hardest. Because the concrete is only two years old the chemical cleaning part of the project was fairly easy. My neighbor and I got 2 scrub brushes and went at it, hosing the floor down between sections and squeegeeing it off to allow for faster drying. We cleaned it on Saturday morning and it was dry enough by Sunday morning at 7:30am to lay down the epoxy coat.
