$1K HDTV Recommendation
#1
I'm looking for a $1000 HDTV recommendation, or even just a good website (other than avsforum.com) reference that I can read through to assist in my decision making.
I'm not a big "A/V" guy so don't need every option and the best of the best. I am looking for a modern (thin) flat-screen which does HDTV (no need for 3D). Probably in the 46"-54" range. Something which minimizes glare and has decent built-in sound. And a $1K price tag (although I will spend a bit more if it makes a difference I can see/hear).
FWIW, I was told that last years Panasonic's "VT....." had the same internals as the Pioneer Elite's from 2 years ago, and that was the set to go with; but it turns out that they have all been gone for 6 or more months now (last years model ?). Web searchs show a different 50" Panny at the $1k price-point winning the rankings battles now but I'm not sure how much these are impacted by advertising dollars or favoritism......
I'm currently milking a Sony 36" HDTV tube that must weigh +/-300lbs.! LOL! I need something new now! Thanks!

+1 on Plasma and the LED LG's. It seems like the TVs have gone up in quality and down in price so there are alot of good buys out there. I personally have the Panasonic Plasma but am looking to upgrade soon!
