Educate me on ~60" flat panal TV's
#21
I'm in same boat Al, but for our bedroom. I went to Best Buy the other day, and they had a Panasonic 65" plasma 600mhz TV that was the best looking picture in the store. Hard environment to compare TVs in, obviously, but it was impressive. I think we're gonna get it tomorrow.
What in the world are you watching that you need such a big TV for in the bedroom? Wait a minute...don't answer that question given your upcoming nuptials.

BTW, congratulations again...

I worked in Magnolia Home Theater for 3 years. The pioneer elite plasmas were the best TVs in the business while they were still in it. To me, the current high end Panasonic plasmas will be your best bet.

The Panasonic TC-P65VT25 is a 65" that currently goes for $4300. The price for a comparable LED-LCD would be between $4500-$6000. I would suggest that you go with a LED-LCD if 1) You play a lot of video games and 2) You have a lot of direct sun-light in the room. If not, go with a Panasonic plasma. For LED-LCDs, or any LCD for that matter, do not purchase anything but Sony or Samsung.

I have 2 55' Samsung 8500's that are both unreal, and several 60" KURO's as well.
My opinion is that the Sammy 8500s > KURO's.
That being said, I have heard unreal things about the Panny Plasma's - though I use a lot of PS3/Streaming Netflix, so for me I wanted to stay away from Plasma.
