GoPro and HD?

Just tried out my HD Hero yesterday. Shot everything in 'R2' mode (720p @30fps).
Uploaded a bunch of short vids to Vimeo and YouTube but they're all in 360/480?? Quality looks like crap. Also took some short vid clips using my Canon point and shoot and those transferred in HD (as indicated by the 'HD' symbol on YouTube). Those look much crisper. WTF? Some help? Thx!

Well, when I hook up the camera to my MacBook, it automatically downloads the video to iPhoto, which I found to be strange. Doesn't give me a choice as to where/how I want the images downloaded. I then edited via iMovie. I assume one of these programs downgraded the resolution?

You also have to set it up to film in HD. Check out the manual and it will tell you how to set it up. There are many different settings from SD to HD. My cousin get's great quality from his.

Problem solved...sort of.
Purchased a $28 SD card reader from Best Buy. Download the vids to my computer through that instead of the camera itself. Uploaded to YT and is now available in HD. Pic quality still sucks but I think it's because of my settings. Will try again at some point and check back.

Try switching to R5 for 1080p and also take it out of the protective housing. Just picked mine up too and its not that sharp. It's a small lens compared to a regualar Canon point and shoot.

Actually did test it this time is 1080. Didn't take it out of the housing b/c I would never use it outside of the case, so whats the point?
Hoping it was just the light metering.

A card reader is the best way to go...
There is a software upgrade available now, GoPro Official Store: Wearable Digital Cameras for Sports
Here is a pdf of the manual, http://www.goprocamera.com/files/Eng...ons-100903.pdf

This is a vid I shot at 720, I think it is ok

Have the zip file for the update on my computer. Just haven't gotten around to uploading it to my GoPro.
