Look Out! Daddy's Got A Brand New Toy . . .
Prepare Your Inner-Geek!!
On Tuesday, I received my new PC from Falcon-Northwest. It is a Mach V.
For those unfamiliar with the boutique PC world, it is a very competative market.
Falcon has emerged over the years as the best producer of bespoke PCs in the world.
Check out their website. Amazing stuff: Falcon Northwest Computer Systems, The Ultimate Gaming PCs..
Each PC is assembled one at a time according to your exact specifications.
Here are the specs on mine.
Silverstone ICON Aluminum Chassis
Silverstone 1200WATT Modular Power Supply
ASUS P6TD Deluxe 17 X58 Motherboard
INTEL Core 17 980X 3.33 GHz 6 Core CPU
Asetek CPU Water Cooler X1
12 GB Crucial D3 PC3-10600 1333 MHz Memory
2 EVGA GeForce GTX480 1536 MB 2 DVI Video Cards in SLI
Integrated Networking and Audio (I had no PCI slots left)
Crucial 256 GB SATA3 SSD (OS here)
Western Digital Caviar Black SATA3/600 1TB 64MB Cache HD
Atech Flash XM-5U V2 Media Reader
Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit
Enermax UC-MA12 MAGMA Twister Fan
Pax-Mate Sound Deadening
She pumped out over 50,000 3Dmark bench points. That makes it amongst the top 1% most powerful PCs in the world.
Here is a pictorial of the delivery, set up and my beaming pride.
Here are the boxes as they arrived from Falcon.
A geek's dream! The Falcon Goodie Box!!!
Oh the rush as the box is opened . . . It is almost a religious experience.
Every PC built by Falcon comes with personalized instructions. Totally unnecessary in my case - of course.
And the chassis emerges from the box like a Titan of days gone by!!
Reverence my good people. You are viewing a work of art.
Check out that video system!! Over 3 GB of dedicated video memory baby!
Water cooling on the CPU. I went passive cooling on the GPUs - I like to live on the edge.
SSD and HD. This is where the magic happens folks.
This damn thing cost me a pretty penny. But the access time is amazing. From off to total boot in 7 seconds!
Another view of Her Majesty. I love seeing all of the available memory and PCI slots full.
Ahhh. Made just for ME!
Note that not a single active cord is showing. How do they do that so cleanly!? It must be magic.
I think I might pee my pants!!!
I'm Not Worthy! I'm Not Worthy!!
Time for the critical moment. Drum roll please . . . .
And she fires up on all cylinders!
And all is right with the world folks. See you in the game!

I prefer my PCs without all the drama thank you.

If you get the custom paint jobs, these babies can get up over $10K easy.

That is a beast. I think that your passive cooling for the graphics cards should be fine unless you want to overclock them (for what reason I don't know as there is nothing out there that will be using the full power of those 2 beasts in SLI for a long time). I'm definitely envious.
