Just Ordered A New Gaming Rig - Falcon Northwest Mach V

My 3-year old Falcon Northwest Mach V finally gave up the ghost today. My Raid 0 HDs failed. Good thing I have all of my files on a remote backup unit.

It gave me an opportunity and excuse to pick up a new Falcon Northwest Mach V with the following specs.

Chassis
ICON - Standard Brushed Aluminum

Side Panel
Standard Solid

Power Supply
1200 Watt Modular

Motherboard
ASUS x58 P6TD Deluxe

Processor
Core i7 Extreme 980X 3.33GHz

Processor Cooler
Liquid Cooling

Processor Overclock

No Processor Overclock

Memory
12GB (6x2GB) 1333MHz DDR3

Video Card(s)
2x GeForce GTX 480 (1536MB)

Sound Card
On-Board Audio

Networking
On-Board Ethernet

Hard Drive
256GB - SSD

Hard Drive 2
1TB - 7200RPM

Optical Drive
22x DVD+/-RW

Media Reader
Internal Media Reader

64-Bit Operating System
Windows 7 Professional

Warranty
3 Year Warranty - Parts and Service

I struggled over getting the SSD - it was nearly $1K!

But I think it will be worth it, especially when editing photos and video.

Sounds like you guys need something like this to hook those computers up to; (otherwise you have built yourself the ultimate Everquest machine )

Congrats Dana. Building PCs has been a hobby of mine since I was in high school and I am about to build a new general use / racing game rig myself. I think I am going to go with the LGA 1156 quad-core because they are significantly cheaper than the LGA 1366s. But I wont be able to use 2 vid cards at x16 speeds like you can with your X58 chipset.

I wondering if I will regret it later. Hmmm. Falcons are really nice, I'm sure that thing will last you another 3-4+ years.

Why not wait for F1 game to come out so you can get the best possible system? You do know a computer becomes obsolete 30 seconds after you place your order, right?
