Tecmo Bowl on the Nintendo NES followed closely by Punch Out "Left...left...left...body blow, body blow!!!!!" "Next up, Glass Joe!!!!"

I wasted a good portion of my senior year in college playing those games.

Should probably break this out into single and multiplayer.

Best single player experience ever: Uncharted 2 on PS3. A close 2nd is Half Life 1. 3rd might be Contra for NES.

Best multiplayer ever, Counterstrike mod for Half Life 1.

I'm basing this on how ground breaking and addictive they were at the time.

Bioshock was pretty outstanding. I didn't agree with the politics, but the presentation and assumption that you were a literate adult made it an amazing experience.

GTA: SA was pretty bad ass. I loved the storyline and the caliber of actors they had doing the characters.

The game I had most fun playing with my friends -

Project Gotham Racing what we called "Cat and Mouse"- 4 players, Nurburgring, 1 black Enzo, 1 black Mini, 1 red Enzo, 1 red Enzo, one lap.

The point was for each colored team to try and get their Mini to finish the lap first. The Black Enzo would try and hit the Red Mini, the Red Enzo would try and hit the Black Mini. You could also put your team's Enzo behind the Mini on straight aways and push it, but it was very difficult.

We would literally change up teams and play this all night long, it was so much fun and addictive.

Mario 1 - brings me back to my youth and GTA: San Andreas because I really want to be a hitman in Florida with a Tony Montana style house and have my car randomly disappear after I park it and go do something else.

I was never a big gamer, but I would say Goldeneye or Max Payne were the most addictive games for me. I probably like racing games more (all the NFS's), but they weren't nearly as addicting.

I never get tired of playing Galaga or Donkey Kong. I have a 'table top' version of both at home.
