Modern Warfare 2 Single Player Story (Spoilers)
I just finished it today (have been playing multiplayer for the most part) and I'm a little dissapointed. They make Makarov out to be the main bad guy the hwole time, then at the end you dont even get to go after him.

Yeah, I agree.
I liked the majority of the missions, but I just felt the story didnt have much direction. The accomplishments were just getting through each level, there was no big pay day at the end. No really memorable moments like in the first one.

I have no idea what was going on. Did Shepherd double-cross everyone to start a war in order to build support for the military?
I thought Price double crossed everyone, there's a part at the sub base where Soap is yelling for Price to close the nuke launch hatch and then the missile goes off and you hear Price say "good". At that point I though Price was a baddy....so I was kind of confused when your just kickin it with him again in the next mission.
I though Price and Makarov were

Here's the way it goes:
In MW1, when everyone is chasing homey in the desert and he detonates the nuke (remember the helo?), those were supposedly Shepherd's men. So when he says, "30,000 of my men killed and the whole world ****ing watched", that's what he's referring to. By using his guy to get inside w/Makarov, he knew he could touch off a world war. The reason he turned on Soap, Ghost, etc. is because they were the only ones who knew the whole story (both sides of the coin). Like the commentary said in the beginning, "The winners write the history." MacTavish launched the nuke from the Russians to get the war ended - the EMP trashed all the equipment in the theater and the launch was from the Russians (no one would back them anymore).
That said, it was a bit ridiculous, but it could make MW3 pretty cool if it's Soap and MacTavish doing covert ops on the run...

Which is also why you have the EMP ability in multiplayer. Knocks out all electronics.
