PS3 Locked up and won't function?

Bought the new Star Trek movie in Blueray and the thing said to download an update before it would play and that it would restart following the download.

Once the download was complete, there was a message on the screen that said to push the PS button on the remote, however, none of the keys on the remote would work. Neither would manually turning it off and on. Message remains on screen and no movie will get past that message.

Ideas?

Thanks man. I was using the remote. The plug in one seems to be working.

Thanks again.
