PS3 future pricing?

PS3 future pricing?
I have been completely out of touch with everything gaming lately, so bad I didn't even know how much a PS3 cost, I had to check it on the net.
. Now I know it's still 400$.
Can one expect a price drop anytime soon? Perhaps a new version? It's been out for a couple years now ...
I would hate to buy one 400$, then the PS3 Slim (or whatever) comes out and see the "usual" PS3 go for 250$ ...

I think the pricing will hold +/- $100 for the next year or so at least, depending on what upgrades come out... I stopped looking at gaming consoles as an investment a long time ago, if it's what you want and nothing else has the games that you want to play, go for it.
I used to go through game consoles like crazy, buying them in packages, then selling them separately and making my money back on them... but it was a lot of work going back and forth, so I just decided to make a game plan and stick with it. No more selling after I finish a game, just leave it and wait for the next one to come out.
I bought my PS3 because of Grand Theft Auto and Gran Turismo... I probably haven't played either of those in about 4 months, so it just sits there and depreciates. Every once in a while I get an itch to play, and I do. So that's what makes it worth it to me.
Otherwise, I just look at it as if it's part of my apartment.

Not really an investment plan.
I just need some media player to plug into the TV and the PS3 sounds like a good candidate (mostly because Gran Turismo will come out eventually).
I just didn't want to go out, buy one and see 2 weeks later the new PS3 ultra slim mega LAN connection came out and I could've saved 100$.
All the rumors of a new/upgraded PS3 I've seen so far seem unfounded ...
