So, SONY XBR9, and the Samsung 8000 series are both out.
Boy, the LED TV's sure have very short life span.
My first gen LED is now so totally obsolete.
Oh, and check out how thin the Samsung 8000 series is! It is literally one inch. You can practically glue the damn TV on the wall instead of mounting it.
Oh, and both the SONY and Samsung are 240Hz.

I know it's LED. I was asking if it's a back lit LED or side lit. I thought in order to make it so thing, they had moved the lighting to the sides...

My 81 series would have been almost as thin if they hadn't made the stupid decision to put two honking speakers in the back.
The way Samsung LED's work is that they are a grid. The main difference other than the evolution from 60 to 120 to 240Hz is that the grids get finer and finer.
This addresses the blooming effect at end credit, since the more LED elements you have, the smaller the area that each is responsible for, the lesser bleed over in backlighting there is.

Funny, because these two share the same fab in Korea.
I have the tricolor LED, and I can't say that it is noticeably better than the Samsung black and white LED.

Would it still be worth it with the 9.5% sales tax?
